Evaluating advertisments. Something for the summer (Zoku Quick Pop Maker)

The advertisement about Zoku Quick Pop Maker is intriguing, gives(in general terms) information about possibilities of the device. But in my opinion, it is manipulates parent's feelings by saying "they are eating a lot of sugar",so some of them begin to feel guilty and stuff and to live down the guilt, they might buy Zoku.

By the way, it looks like a review or a message from  a happy customer than an advert. The information does not look reliable (no figures or sources).

Nonetheless, there is no extra information, which is easy to miss and, what is more, no stereotypes, which is commonplace in ads.

As I said, the advert a little bit manipulates people, it influences people in different ways, first one - pangs of conscience (children eat a lot of sugar), second one - the advert persuades us that we need the product to be happier (kids will love their daily lolly and you'll love to see them eating healthy food).

You should think twice before you buy this product, you need to read reviews and consult with relatives.

Домашняя работа

1) I think that advertising isn't an important part of our society, but it is still the part of it. Advertisements are everywhere, I suppose, no one is able to get away from this.
2) As I said, it is barely possible to get away from advertising. When you watching TV, serfing the Enternet, walking throw the park or even go for a walk into a forest nearby city, you can find leaflets, see billboards, etc. Even our friends (classmates; another strangers:) ) can tell us about different goods.
3) Nobody can deny, that advertising affects everyone. It influence our minds, makes us buy stuff we don't need, but they persuade us, that without this good, your life will not be as a rainbow, only with this product people will love. Thanks god, that  some advertisement are normal.
4) If I were a company owner, I would spend money on advertising. This is one of the most important thing you have to do. Without advertising your company, there is 25% that people will notice you.
5) The adverts I like most are celebrity endorsements. It is always interesting and fascinating seeing your favourite stars advertising something. For example, Arnold Schwarzenegger advertised Japanese food in really funny way.
6) The ones that annoy me most are pop-ups. When they are suddenly appear, it freaks me out, because in those moments I am searching information I need, I am not looking for "Are you interested in games?"
7) In major, I buy the first product I find, well, it is not a huge problem, if I will spend 2-3 rubles more than in another shop, but if I am planning to buy something expensive, I will shop around.
8) As I said,if I am planning to buy something expensive, I will read product reviews before buying something.
9) As twice I said, if I am planning to buy something expensive, I will check out prices and compare products on the Net. Last month, I helped my uncle to buy a mobile phone. I have been checking out prices and compare goods for about 3 hours, it was really exhausting. In the end, I was really tired and my eyes were red.

My media use

To get information about my interests, I often check out online film magazines or such websites as kinopoisk.ru or Wikipedia.ru. Whenever I want to keep up with the latest local news, I watch the news on "STS" channel. To chill out, I listen music on yourmusic.com. My favourite TV programmes are The vampire diaries and "Heads and tails". When I want to express my own opinion, I post comments on suggestion.ru.  When I am doing research for school work, I use informationansstuff.ru. To catch up with my friends' news and give my own, I use vk.com and blogpost.ru.

Animals. Facts and myths.

1. Myth: Animal rights activists care more about animals than people.

Fact: Animal rights activists have expanded their circle of compassion so that it includes non-human animals as well as people, but caring about non-human animals does not mean that someone doesn't care or cares less about people. If you talk with animal rights activists, you will find that many are also involved with humanitarian causes such as hunger, poverty, sweatshops, feminism, marriage equality, or civil rights.

2. Myth: Animal rights activists protest fur while wearing leather shoes.

Fact: Although some fur protestors may wear leather shoes, animal rights activists oppose the use of leather and do not wear leather. With today's synthetic materials, it can be difficult to tell if someone is wearing leather shoes just from a casual glance and it would be wrong to accuse someone of wearing leather shoes without checking.

3. Myth: Animal rights activists care only about “cute” animals.

Fact: There are some animal protection groups that tend to promote the protection of "cute" animals like panda bears, baby seals or puppies, but the animal rights philosophy applies to all animals. In fact, activists are often ridiculed for championing fish, flies, chickens or other "non-cute" animals. ("Cute" and "non-cute" are in quotes because cuteness is highly subjective.)

4. Myth: Animal rights activists protest hunting but buy meat in a supermarket.

Fact: Some people who eat meat may protest hunting, but animal rights activists oppose both hunting and buying meat from a supermarket. Animal rights activists advocate veganism, and do not consume any meat, eggs, dairy or other animal products.

5. Myth: PETA (or HSUS) represents the entire animal rights movement.

Fact: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and The Humane Society of the United Statesdominate mainstream media coverage of animal rights issues in the U.S., but do not represent the entire animal rights movement. The animal rights movement is not monolithic, and it would be inaccurate to believe that one or two organizations represent the full diversity of animal rights activists, strategies, philosophies and organizations that are out there.

6. Myth: Animal rights activists are terrorists.

Fact: A very small minority of animal rights activists engage in violent tactics, but they do not represent all activists or even the majority. Just as it would be wrong to judge all pro-life advocates by the ones who kill abortion doctors, it would be wrong to say that all animal rights activists are terrorists.

7. Myth: Animal rights activists protest whaling, but not the killing of cows.

Fact: While some people oppose the killing of whales because various whale species are threatened or endangered, or out of a belief that whales are special, animal rights activists oppose whaling because they believe it is wrong to kill sentient beings for food. Animal rights activists advocate veganism, but in general, protests against the killing of cows, pigs or chickens do not garner as much media coverage as protests against whaling, which might explain how this myth arose.

8. Myth: Animal rights activists are privileged, white, educated, urban women.

Fact: Animal rights activists are diverse when it comes to class, ethnicity, race, education, gender and geography. Although the animal rights movement may not appear diverse based on attendance at conferences or protests, it would be wrong to judge the entire movement based on a small number of events. Much animal activism goes on in homes, churches, temples, and within communities and countries that are underrepresented in mainstream American media.

9. Myth: Hitler was a vegetarian.
Fact: While various writers have labeled Hitler a vegetarian, some of those very same writers also point out that he ate ham, sausage, liver, and caviar. A German chef and cookbook author wrote that stuffed squab was a great favorite of Hitler's whenever he came into the hotel where she worked. Regardless, whether any particular individual is vegan or vegetarian has no bearing on whether animals deserve rights.

10. Myth: Animal rights activists want to take my pets away from me.

Fact: While some activists oppose the keeping of pets and think that no more should be bred, no one wants to take your animals away from you. The best place for your pet is in your home, with you.

11. Myth: Animal rights activists want to impose their views on everyone else.

Fact: Animal rights activists are not trying to impose their views on anyone. The animal rights movement uses public outreach, education and persuasion, not force. Even campaigns to change laws are based on organizing enough voters to make it politically advantageous for legislators to support animal protection.

12. Myth: Veganism is not healthy.

Fact: The American Dietetic Association supports vegan diets: "It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases."

"Foxhunting" and "Story from contry's history"

Modern foxhunting, where a fox was pursued by a hunt formed by men on horsebacks and a pack of foxhounds, developed in the late 18th century in Britain. Foxhunting is not as ancient as some people might think. It was mainly developed by Hugo Meynell, Master of the Quorn Hunt between 1753 and 1800. Earlier forms of foxhunting mainly involved following the fox's trail back to its den, When modern hunting was first developed, woodland cover was less widespread than today and, perhaps as a consequence (see the importance of cover for urban foxes), foxes were less abundant.
In the early days some hunts were called off if it appeared that the fox would get killed. In fact, as more foxes were needed for hunting than were present, large numbers of animals were imported from Europe to be sold at markets in England.

Foxhunting is now illegal in Britain, in Scotland since 2002 and in England and Wales since 2005. It is still legally practiced in Australia, Ireland and North America. In North America foxes were present in the west but were introduced on the east coast for hunting. Similarly in Australia foxes were introduced for hunting and, in both North America and Australia, the introduced animals rapidly spread across the continents.
